According to the royal decree 78/2020 the name of the Authority has been amended to The Authority for Public Services Regulation, and additional duties have been assigned to it. Including the Electricity sector, the Authority has been assigned activities relating to regulating the natural gas. The royal decree 131/2020 has assigned the Authority the duties of regulating the water and wastewater sector.
Nama Holding is a joint-stock company, registered in the Sultanate of Oman. The company commenced its commercial operations on 16 September 2003 and holds the shares of the Government in subsidiary companies. Nama Holding is responsible of implementing the Government’s policy on financing state-owned companies in the electricity and related water sector, supporting and implementing government privatization policies for the electricity, water, and wastewater sector, drawing Nama Group’s strategy which focusing on developing its business and supervising all the key strategic projects implemented by the subsidiaries.
Oman Water and Wastewater Services Company S.A.O.C. is a subsidiary of the Electricity Holding Company S.A.O.C. (operating under the name of Nama Group). Through an ambitious vision and well-established values, the company seeks to be a leading service institution in the water and wastewater sectors and applies best international practices to contribute to achieving the sustainable development of the Sultanate of Oman by developing the system and facilities of the water and wastewater sectors and finding the best innovative solutions to provide a sustainable, safe and reliable service to subscribers, and work to reduce Causes of pollution resulting from traditional sanitation systems, prevention of the spread of diseases and epidemics, as well as protection of groundwater sources from depletion or pollution.
Nama Supply Company SAOC ("NSC") is a closed joint stock Omani company established as a result of the new market structure for electricity and related water sector under the Sector Law.
Oman Electricity Transmission Co. (OETC) member of Nama Group owns and operates a single 220/132 kV transmission system to serve the areas in the Main Interconnected System. The system connects power plants and transmits power over 220kV and 132kV lines stepping down to 33kV for distribution. All the electricity is from the power plants is procured by PWP, power transmission is the responsibility of OETC and the distribution is undertaken by the distribution companies.
Rural Area Electricity Company (RAECO) member of Nama Group system is providing power produced by diesel generators to areas of the Sultanate which are not covered by the MIS or Dhofar system. The company also undertakes electrification of rural areas.
Nama Dhofar Services provides electricity, water, and wastewater services in the Dhofar Governorate. The company aims to ensure the provision of electricity, water, and wastewater services in Dhofar Governorate while enhancing the reliability and quality of service. It also seeks to improve the efficiency of the network and operations, reduce losses in network resources, increase access to services, and achieve customer satisfaction.
