Nama Power and Water Procurement Powers Oman Sustainability Week with Renewable Energy Through I-REC
Nama Power and Water Procurement (PWP) has reinforced its commitment to clean energy by sponsoring the electricity consumption of Oman Sustainability Week through renewable energy sources, enabled by International Renewable Energy Certificates (I-REC).
As part of this initiative, all electricity consumption during Oman Sustainability Week is certified to be generated from renewable sources, demonstrating a practical and impactful application of clean energy solutions within major national events.
This sponsorship highlights Nama Power and Water Procurement’s role in advancing sustainable practices and supporting the transition towards a low-carbon future. By utilising I-REC, PWP ensures transparency and credibility in verifying the renewable origin of the electricity consumed, while enabling event organisers and participants to reduce their carbon footprint.
Oman Sustainability Week (OSW) is the Sultanate’s leading national platform for advancing dialogue, collaboration, and action on sustainability, bringing together government leaders, industry stakeholders, innovators, and experts to address key priorities across energy transition, water, waste, mobility, and climate innovation in alignment with Oman Vision 2040 and net zero ambitions.
As part of its participation, Nama Power and Water Procurement will also contribute to the OSW Talks, with exclusive engagement in discussions addressing critical topics including Water Security and Securing Oman’s Energy Future, further reinforcing its role in shaping strategic conversations and solutions at the forefront of the nation’s sustainability agenda.
Ahmed bin Salim Al Abri, Chief Executive Officer of Nama Power and Water Procurement, said: “Powering Oman Sustainability Week with renewable energy reflects our commitment to leading by example. Through I-REC, we are not only supporting this important national platform but also demonstrating how organisations can actively contribute to sustainability and decarbonization goals.”
Ashley Roberts, Managing Director at CONNECT, said; “Powering Oman Sustainability Week through renewable energy is a clear demonstration of how large-scale events can align with the sustainability principles they advocate. Nama Power and Water Procurement’s support through I-REC brings both credibility and tangible impact to the event, reinforcing our commitment to delivering platforms that not only drive dialogue, but actively contribute to Oman’s decarbonization journey.”
The initiative aligns with the Sultanate of Oman’s national vision to increase the share of renewable energy and promote environmental responsibility across sectors. It also showcases the growing role of market-based mechanisms such as I-REC in enabling organisations to make credible and measurable sustainability claims.
Nama Power and Water Procurement continue to drive innovation in the energy sector by facilitating renewable energy integration, supporting global best practices, and creating opportunities for both local and international stakeholders to participate in Sultanate of Oman’s clean energy transition.
