Nama Power and Water Procurement Unveils the Expression of Interest for New Thermal Power Plants
Nama Power and Water Procurement Company, the single procurer of power and water capacity and output in the Sultanate of Oman, is inviting potential developers to participate on the expression of interest for a competitive tender for the Build, Own, and Operate (BOO) of new thermal Combined-Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) power plant. This project marks a significant step in the company’s ongoing commitment to on ensuring a reliable and sustainable energy future for Oman through a balanced mix of energy sources, including both renewable and thermal power plants.
While the company is committed to increasing the share of renewables in the energy mix, particularly solar, wind and energy storage, it recognizes the ongoing need for thermal power plants to meet base-load electricity demand and ensure grid security. PWP plans to continue its investments in efficient, modern, environment-friendly thermal power generation facilities, including natural gas-fired plants, which are expected to play a crucial role in the country's energy supply for the foreseeable future.
The project will adopt into an advanced technology and leverage energy transition opportunity in which it optimizes fuel use and reduce environmental impact.
