
The Authority for Public Services Regulation, Oman ("the Authority"), previously known as the Authority for Electricity Regulation (AER) is the Authority established by Article (19) of the Law for the Regulation and Privatisation of the Electricity and Related Water Sector promulgated by Royal Decree 78/2004 (”the Sector Law"). The Sector Law was promulgated by Royal Decree 78/2004 on 1st August 2004.
OPWP purchases electricity and desalinated water in accordance with the Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) and Power and Water Purchase Agreements (PWPAs) with the various generators and desalination companies.

MEDC is responsible for distribution of electricity in the Governorate
of Muscat under a license issued by the Authority for Electricity
Regulation, Oman. MEDC`s main function is to build and maintain the
necessary infrastructure for the distribution of electricity in the
governorate of Muscat. MEDC caters to private consumers, commercial
consumers and government Sector in the region. OPWP has entered into a
Bulk Supply Agreements for supply of power in bulk as per the approved

Mazoon Electricity Company SAOC ( MZEC ) member of Nama Group is a closed Omani joint stock
company registered under the Commercial Companies Law of Oman. The
company is primarily undertaking regulated distribution and supply of
electricity in Dakiliya, Sharqiya and South AL Batinah regions under a
license issued by the Authority for Electricity Regulation, Oman. MZEC
caters to private consumers, commercial consumers and government Sector
in the region. OPWP has entered into a Bulk Supply Agreements for
supply of power in bulk as per the approved Bulk Supply Tariff.

Majan Electricity Company SAOC (MJEC) member of Nama Group is a closed Omani joint stock
company registered under the Commercial Companies Law of Oman. The
company`s core business is to manage electricity network through the
Distribution and Supply of electricity to customers in North Al-Batinah
and Al-Dahirah regions and Buraimi Governorate. MJEC caters to private
consumers, commercial consumers and government Sector in the region.

Dhofar Power Company (DPC) is a closed Omani joint stock company registered under the Commercial Companies Law of Oman. The company was incorporated on 25 February 2001 and has commenced its commercial operations on 1 May 2003 (the Commercial Operation Date "COD"). The establishment and operations of the company were governed by the provisions of the Concession Agreement between the Ministry of Housing Electricity and Water (MHEW), DPC and Dhofar Generating Company (DGC) dated 17 March 2001.
However, based on the directive issued by Public Authority for Electricity and Water (PAEW) pursuant to the Cabinet Decision to terminate the Concession Agreement, restructuring activities have been initiated.
